This is a Call to Action for a Non-Hierarchical Occupation of Monsanto Everywhere
Whether you like it or not, chances are Monsanto contaminated the food you ate today with chemicals and unlabeled GMOs. Monsanto controls much of the world's food supply at the expense of food democracy worldwide. This site is dedicated to empowering citizens of the world to take action against Monsanto & it's enablers like the FDA, USDA, EPA, GMA, BIO, and the processed food companies that use Monsanto's products.
On July 17th, 2012, The Food Supply Rescue Coalition visited an Atlanta area McDonald’s to try and buy a meal that did not contain Genetically Engineered products. They didn’t have much luck, but they did buy a meal to see if, and how long, the elements of the meal would decompose. This is part of the lead up to the September global week of action against Monsanto. Monsanto has patented their genetically engineered plants and animal feed found in 90% of American food products, and McDonald’s is one of the main conduits for these products to enter the population. But now some people are fighting back by demanding labeling, more education of what they call “Frankenfoods”, and eventually banning GMO’s altogether.
For over 20 years, Hawai’i has been the global center for the open-field testing of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO’s), including pharmaceutical crops. Over 5,000 experimental tests have been conducted by Monsanto, Dow, Dupont/Pioneer, Syngenta and BASF that spray chemicals on an almost daily basis on our most valuable lands. They are supported by tax-breaks, and beneficial relationships with landowners, regulators and politicians. We estimate GMO companies own or lease 40,000 — 60,000 acres that are sprayed with over 70 different chemicals.
A new vision for Hawai’i would promote small farms that grow chemical-free produce, employ our youth and restore the indigenous ahupua’a system. Hawai’i has less than 3,000 acres of certified organic farmland, which is 0.27% of Hawaiian farmland.
Kamehameha Schools is Hawaii’s largest private landowner. Despite Kamehameha’s public statements about sustainability and conservation, they lease substantial amounts of land to multi-national biotech firms, including Monsanto, Dow, Dupont/Pioneer and Syngenta for GMO open field tests and seed corn production.
Kamehameha is the only institution with the land, capital and resources to reduce our food imports, that are now over 90%, and ensure that Hawai’i does not run out of food in case of natural disasters or rising oil prices.
SA 2256. Mr. SANDERS (for himself and Mrs. BOXER) submitted an amendment intended to be proposed by him to the bill S. 3240, to reauthorize agricultural programs through 2017, and for other purposes; which was ordered to lie on the table; as follows:
Does your Genetic Crimes Unit need banners? Download the PDFs below, print them out, and inform the world of what is happening on the week of September 17th, 2012.
To print a banner, click on the design you like & download it (right click on PC or command click on Mac and “Save as file”), and take this file to your local print shop to have a full-color, 3′ x 9′ vinyl banner made. It should cost less than $200. If you choose 4′ x 12′ it will cost around $400.
Alternatively, you can use these designs to create your own hand-made signs. Most hardware stores have large canvas drop cloths that can be cut to size and hand-painted.
Appears some haven’t got the memo: it’s a whole new ballgame, and we’re playing for the marbles, for this beautiful marbled jewel: this world is in the balance.
Their balances are in the red. Spreadsheets tell them there is not time. Now we must act in the shared interests of all the planet’s occupants. Yet still it seems there are some speaking for the few; morally bankrupt few, whose unthinkable plans they continue to tout.
Please take a sec to take action to save our Freedoms!
Find out what their new ACTA is all about.
And watch out for SOPA/PIPA’s Big Brother’s local, little Braddah’s HB.2286 & SB.2530
Put Hawai’ian Representatives on notice: tell them the whole world is watching!!!
And all this is lest to forget we have asked the World to join us in Occupying Monsanto all this week, and what a week it’s been already.
Wish we could say more other than stay tuned. Watch like an Egyptian (Tahir Square among others have been picking up and broadcasting our “Occupy Wall Street Maui” livestream)! Stay tuned. Turn on Maui and the world to the planet’s plague that is Monsanto. Drop into our facebook sites regularly… daily updates and big news forthcoming.
